A Lion, A Wolff and That Signature Blue Note Sound
February is Black History Month. 2019 is also the 80th anniversary of Blue Note Records. The label was founded in 1939 by two Jewish emigres from Germany. In the 1950's and 60's Blue Note was the prime producer of bop and hard bop jazz. This week I am featuring seven artists, all African American who came to prominence in the 1960's mostly through Blue Note Records.
