Greetins Cretins, This week I was joined by my friend Deena Zee in the studio. If you've never met Deena, but you're into punk rock in the lower mainland, I guarantee you've seen her. Front & Centre, Flat brim hat, dancing her little heart out to some of the best bands that our city has to offer. Deena's a staple of the vancouver punk rock community. She has an enigmatic energy and effortlessly brings joy to those around her. If you've ever been at a gig and found yourself thinking, "Man, this band is great, I wish someone would get the pit going", then either Deena isn't at that show, or she simply hasn't shown up yet! From the opening act to the final oncore, you can count on Deena to be there; giving back as much energy as the bands are putting out. So this week, I invited Deena to come up and share a bit of her story of how she found punk rock, and to share exactly what it is that has kept her skanking, thrashing, dancing and moshing for the past 26 years. She brought up a serious collection of some of her favorite records and we gave 'em a spin, all while learning a little more about one of the city's most unifying souls. So, the next time you're at a show, and you see that girl up at the front, dancing her heart out. Go up and say hello, you'll be glad you did. And, if you don't see her, and your standing there with your arms crossed, wishing that people would put down their beers and get the fucking pit moving. Take a page from Deena's book, and be the spark that sets the pit of fire! Keep Creepin' - Jonny Bones
